The
rains are here with us again and already some areas are getting flooded, with
the accompanying loss lives and properties running into thousands of Ghana Cedis are destroyed.
This problem has
been in existence for some years now and its looks like there are no solution
to end this problem because of lawlessness in the country from house owners,
and authorities whose duties to ensure that the right things are to be done are
not working effectively. All education to the general public not to build on
waters has heeded no result.
People buy and sell land anywhere without going through the necessary procedure and the authorities in charge of these occurrences are always blamed anytime they enforce their bi laws to embark on a demolition exercise. Whiles authorities are complaining, people are continuing to build because of lack of knowledge. I therefore advice the general public to be cautious and take the necessary steps to ensure they don’t lose properties when there is a heavy down poor.
